The Move ecosystem welcomes a critical year: review and outlook of the 2024 Developer Conference

Move Developer Conference 2024: Review and Outlook

The Move Developer Conference will be held in Shanghai from January 13 to 14, 2024. This year's conference, themed "A Key Year for the Move Ecosystem," attracted over 500 participants and achieved a total exposure of 100,000 across the internet.

The conference invited several industry veterans, including Sam Blackshear, founder and CTO of Mysten Labs, and Wolfgang Grieskamp, head of the Move language at Aptos Labs. The attendees held in-depth discussions around Move technology, covering topics such as the future development of the Move language and the status of full-chain applications.

Looking back at 2023, the launch of Aptos and Sui mainnets has opened a new journey for Web3. Multiple blockchain networks using the Move language have emerged, and technologies like AI and ZK have also made groundbreaking progress.

Sam Blackshear shared the 2024 outlook for Move on Sui. He pointed out that in 2023, the Move ecosystem developed rapidly, with Sui reaching 300,000 TPS on the testnet and TVL exceeding $20.2 billion. In 2024, Move will head towards a more user-friendly and compatible direction, introducing new features such as zkLogin multi-signature.

Luis, co-founder of MoveBit, introduced the construction of the Move security platform based on bytecode. MoveBit has successfully completed the first high-quality smart contract audit within the Move ecosystem, and currently ranks first in the total number of audited Move projects.

The co-founder of zkMove, nanne007, shared the development process of halo2-verifier. Halo2 is widely used in ZK EVM solutions and will further optimize user experience in the future, expanding to blockchains such as Sui and Movement.

The founder of omniBTC, Guanghua, discussed how to introduce external assets on Sui. He pointed out that solving the TVL problem on the Sui chain is crucial, and solutions like BEVM provide innovative ideas for this.

Mole founder Andrew introduced the asset management platform Mole on Move. The platform provides stable returns for users through a combination of various strategies, while empowering DeFi.

Joy Wang, a cryptographic engineer at Mysten Labs, explained in detail the principles and applications of zkLogin, demonstrating how it enables deep interaction between Web2 and Web3.

Henry Liu, the founder of Obelisk Labs, analyzed the reasons why Move is suitable for full-chain games. The Obelisk Engine is based on the Move language, which can significantly reduce game development costs and improve efficiency.

Alcove Senior Engineer Eric discussed the development of Aptos Move Object. Alcove is building an open collaborative developer community on the Aptos chain to promote the adoption of Web3.

Troy, co-founder of MoveFlow, introduced programmable flow payments on Move. MoveFlow supports predefined trading rules based on time and events, featuring various functional modules.

Overall, the Move ecosystem will continue to thrive in 2024, unleashing potential in various fields such as DeFi, GameFi, and security. Developers and users can look forward to the emergence of more innovative applications.
