Post-00s Web3 Entrepreneurs: From Frenzy to Rationality Exploring New Blockchain Tracks
Post-00s Web3 Entrepreneurs: Curiosity, Passion, and Rationality Coexist
While many from the post-80s and post-90s generations are still worried about missing the "revolutionary fast train" of Web3, some from the post-00s generation are already deeply involved. A post-00s individual said: "The revolution you see is my everyday life."
However, this new track is not just filled with "enthusiasm"; some young pioneers are also starting to think calmly and even reflect. We interviewed four post-00s entrepreneurs who are "playing" with Web3, and their stories may reflect another side of the industry.
The Journey into the Game of Adolescence
Meepo, a Fujian native, was born in 2000 and claims to have achieved "financial freedom." His defined standard is having enough assets to buy two houses and two cars in a first-tier city. This is his achievement as a "veteran" in Web3 with ten years of experience.
Meepo was introduced to Bitcoin in sixth grade. In 2012, his parents tried Bitcoin mining out of interest and encouraged him to study it, rewarding him 100 yuan for each coin mined. At that time, Bitcoin had only been around for two years and its social value was not high.
Born in 2003, Zohar was introduced to Bitcoin at an early age. In his first year of high school, after hearing about Bitcoin from a school club, he invested around 3000 yuan to "play around," but eventually lost most of it.
Zohar now has multiple identities: a top scorer in the college entrance examination of a certain province, a student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong who has taken a leave of absence to start a business (, a co-founder of an art DAO, a Web3 investor, and more. His daily investment returns in NFTs are around several dozen times.
Emma was born in 2006 and started her blockchain entrepreneurship at the age of 16. She is in high school in San Jose, California, and last year her internet project was selected as one of the top 10 in the YC training camp. This year she is upgrading the project to a Web3 project, hoping to make another attempt to get investment from YC.
For these post-00s, entering Web3 is not a deliberate effort. As a programmer from a cryptocurrency exchange said: "Isn't it just the future that young people like?"
"There is no authority here"
Emma believes that Web3 is a way for her to learn. "My way of learning is through entrepreneurial projects; when I encounter problems, I look up information or consult others." Her father never demands that she attend a prestigious school, but places more importance on the child's independent will and self-discipline.
To address the issues of writer income and work marketing, Emma founded the blockchain digital publishing platform Cypher. Users can publish articles on it, and readers can "pay to read + invest" in authors. Emma believes that this free market model can only be realized on Web3.
Ding Hui is from Shaanxi, born in 2003, and only attended high school. He was exposed to DAO) decentralized autonomous organizations( early on and believes this is the most exciting aspect of Web3. Before the concept of DAO emerged, he had already formed similar online communities, adhering to the philosophy of "equality for all and self-governance."
Zohar likes to call himself a "bad student." During his first year of high school, he used online courses to create an independent learning plan for himself, and later he became the top scorer in the college entrance examination in the whole city. After the first semester of college, he chose to take a leave of absence to engage in Web3 entrepreneurship, initiated an art-related DAO, participated in planning Europe's first high-profile crypto art exhibition, and also established a cryptocurrency fund.
These young people aspire to overturn authority and even become the new "authority". They believe that in the wave of Web3, everyone has the potential to achieve extraordinary wealth and make a leap across social classes. But how likely is it to become that lucky one?

The Game of "Cut" and "Being Cut"
The Web3 startup community is filled with wealth myths, but the truth is often different. A Binance employee reminds: "Don't fully believe what people in the crypto space say; take off a zero from the wealth they mention and then cut it in half."
Meepo gained "insider information" by promoting projects and slowly achieved financial freedom starting in 2018. He admitted that to some extent he also made money by "cutting leeks," saying, "The crypto world profits from the opacity of information."
"I don't like this way, but personal interests come first." Meepo said, "One advantage of blockchain is that you don't know whose leeks are being cut, so you won't feel guilty."
Ding Hui once served as the operation head of a religious culture NFT project. He found that the investors might just want to "make a quick buck and leave," but he chose to join to gain experience. "With my background, quality projects wouldn't give me this opportunity, but after gaining experience, job hunting will be completely different."
Zohar observed that the quality of an NFT project and its potential to make money are two different matters. The key lies in the team's "market value management ability", which is whether they can make users believe that the NFT will appreciate. An experienced NFT buyer candidly stated, "Most NFT projects are just harvesting retail investors."
Meepo is planning an NFT project focusing on the concept of secondary creation of IP, allowing users to enhance the value of NFTs through secondary creation. He believes that with his community resources, "there will definitely be buyers." However, due to the current bear market, he has temporarily shelved the project release plan.
Next Stop: The Collision of Ideals and Reality
"Actually, I am quite disappointed with this industry. Web3 should lean towards technology, rather than financial attributes or speculation," Meepo said. He has now joined a large internet company, but he will still return to Web3 in the future, "The decentralized business culture is more appealing to me, that will be the future."
Ding Hui wrote an article reflecting on the current issues of DAOs, such as centralized rule by core teams and difficulty in reaching consensus. "People often mention the faith in Web3, and I think it is projecting human ideals onto this fresh land. Can it become a reality? I don't hold too much hope." Yet, he is still exploring better ways to implement DAOs.
For these young people, Web3 is not the destination, but more like a journey in life, a new attempt, or a low-cost adventure. Zohar plans to return to campus for further study in the future, "My experience off-campus and my research on-campus will be complementary."
Emma continues to push for the YC training camp in her spare time, while Dinghui is still looking for DAO opportunities. As some of the first post-00s Web3 entrepreneurs, they are all exploring their own paths. The stories of young people are always full of hope, but the collision between reality and ideals continues. The future of Web3 may just be in the hands of these brave young people who are willing to try.
