When tokenization meets the EU banking system, it's a duet of technology and capital.
Have you ever seen banks smile so happily in front of regulators? The new EU regulations have made them beam with joy. The reason is simple: they no longer have to pay extra capital penalties for tokenized asset businesses. This means they can create more and more flexible on-chain financial products with the same amount of capital.
What are tokenized assets? They are traditional assets wrapped in a blockchain "coat," allowing them to be fragmented for sale, transferred at any time, and made public and transparent. This was originally a signature move of the DeFi circle, but with regulatory endorsement, traditional banks can play too, and they can play more safely.
Three major benefits:
1. Reduce costs and increase efficiency: Lower capital requirements, more agile business models.
2. Seizing liquidity: able to lock in global tokenized trading demand more quickly.
3. Technological Leap: From paper settlement to on-chain settlement, speed doubled.
Regulation is certainly not a hands-off approach. The EBA warns: anti-money laundering (AML), customer protection, and operational risk are areas that must be continuously invested in; otherwise, tokenization could turn into a money laundering factory or a scam site.
My view: This is a dual acceleration of policy dividends and technological upgrades. European banks are able to stand at the "intersection of blockchain and traditional finance," incorporating tokenization into mainstream asset allocation earlier than their global peers.
End of the post: The duet of technology and capital, the song that the EU has played for banks is not yet finished, you should be ready to take the stage.
