In the Web3 storage field, there are five tokens widely regarded as mainstream: Storj, AR, SC, Fil, and XCH. Each has its unique characteristics and application scenarios.
Storj is a decentralized file storage solution's Token. Its total supply is 425 million, of which 415 million are in circulation. Users can use Storj Token to store and retrieve files on the platform, while participants who contribute storage space can earn Storj Token as a reward. It is worth noting that the Storj platform claims its fees are approximately 80% lower than traditional cloud storage services.
AR Token is the native token of the Arweave project, with a total supply of 66 million. Arweave uses a unique blockweave technology and SPoRA consensus mechanism to provide users with permanent and immutable data storage services. Users pay with AR Token to obtain storage services, while miners earn AR Token by providing storage space and data access services.
Siacoin (SC) is the native Token of the Sia platform. Sia aims to provide secure, economical, and decentralized cloud storage services. Storage providers on the platform earn SC Tokens by renting out idle hard drive space, while users who need to store data must pay SC Tokens to use the storage services.
Filecoin (Fil) is the incentive layer in the IPFS ecosystem, with a maximum supply of 2 billion coins. In the Filecoin network, storage providers earn Fil tokens by providing reliable storage services or committing storage capacity. The issuance of Fil tokens is closely related to the actual usage and growth of the network.
Finally, XCH is the native Token of the Chia network. The Chia network was founded by Bram Cohen, the creator of BitTorrent, and uses a unique consensus mechanism called "proof of space and time" aimed at creating a more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient blockchain network. XCH Token is used to pay transaction fees and reward network participants, and its issuance adopts a pre-mined and dynamic issuance method, with no fixed total supply limit.
These five tokens each have their own characteristics, reflecting the diversity and innovation in the Web3 storage field. As decentralized storage technology continues to develop, these tokens and the projects behind them may have a profound impact on traditional data storage methods.
