Payment giant PayPal announced that its own stablecoin PYUSD will be supported on another network! Here are the details.
PayPal has officially announced that its USD-pegged cryptocurrency PYUSD is now also supported on the Arbitrum network. This information was included in the cryptocurrency service terms updated by the payment giant on July 16, 2025.
PayPal Expands PYUSD Stablecoin to Arbitrum Network
According to the statement in the terms:
"PYUSD, one of the crypto assets supported by PayPal, is issued by Paxos on the Ethereum, Solana, and Arbitrum blockchains."
This statement was not present in the old version dated July 11, 2025. With the addition of Arbitrum, PYUSD can now be actively used on three different networks, following Ethereum and Solana. The updated terms also include new sections regarding the transaction limits of PYUSD on Arbitrum.
PayPal USD (PYUSD) was first launched on Ethereum in August 2023. This stablecoin, fully supported by US dollars, short-term treasury bills, and similar high-liquid assets, aims to provide price stability in digital payments.
CEO Dan Schulman stated during the launch that PYUSD was designed as a stable tool to bridge digital and fiat currencies.
In May 2024, PYUSD expanded to the Solana network and has now completed its integration with second-layer solutions that offer lower transaction fees and high scalability advantages with Arbitrum support.
Paxos, the issuer of PYUSD, had planned to launch its tokenization platform on the Arbitrum network in September 2024. As the next step in this integration, the introduction of PYUSD on Arbitrum is seen as an important milestone in the development of digital financial infrastructure.
PayPal's move is seen as an indication of the increasing competition and institutional adoption in the stablecoin space.
