Powell: The Federal Reserve reviews the monetary policy framework and adjusts the average inflation target strategy.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell stated at the Thomas Laubach Research Conference that the Federal Reserve is reviewing its interest rate setting framework due to significant changes in inflation and interest rates since 2020, with the review results expected to be announced in August or September. Powell emphasized that the average inflation targeting strategy adopted in 2020 failed to address the post-pandemic surge in inflation, and the Federal Reserve plans to adjust the framework to cope with potentially more frequent supply shocks in the future while maintaining a 2% inflation target.
