Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP continue to decline as Trump's comments on China trade create market turmoil.
A significant decline occurred in the cryptocurrency market from Friday night to midnight, with Bitcoin (BTC) dropping below $105,000. According to CoinGlass, the total amount of liquidations (forced settlements) in the past 24 hours reached $800 million.
Additionally, the total market capitalization decreased by 4.5%. Major tokens such as ETH, XRP, SOL, and ADA fell by over 4%, while Dogecoin recorded a decline of more than 9%.
This recent decline seems to have been triggered by President Trump's post on Truth Social. Trump claimed that China has "completely violated" the agreement with the United States, raising concerns about new trade frictions and amplifying market anxiety.
On May 12, the Trump administration and China reached an agreement during trade talks in Switzerland to reduce each other's additional tariffs by 115%, including a 90-day suspension.
Additionally, the core PCE index for April announced last night rose by 2.5% year-on-year as expected, but the impact on the market was limited.
According to reports from Decrypt, Valentin Fournier, the chief analyst at investment firm BRN, predicts that "Bitcoin will temporarily drop to the $100,000 level before recovering to $130,000 to $150,000." The next key material is the FOMC meeting on June 17-18, where the probability of interest rates being held steady is at 95%.
