The official account of Pump.fun and its founder Alon has been banned on X.
According to the Gate News bot, The Block reported that the official X account of the Solana meme coin launch platform pump.fun and its founder Alon Cohen, along with several other accounts related to meme coins, have been suspended by the social media platform.
As of 10:50 PM Eastern Time on Monday, the platform's official accounts "pumpdotfun" and Cohen's "a1lon9" remain banned, indicating that they violated the rules on X.
The suspension has sparked numerous speculations about the social media platform, including concerns that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) may intervene, or that there may be illegal activities associated with the operation of pump.fun. Currently, the main platform of Pump.fun is still fully operational.
Although the platform is at the center of the recent Solana meme coin craze, it has been criticized for becoming a breeding ground for scam cryptocurrencies and stock price manipulation schemes.
Meanwhile, X has suspended several other accounts related to meme coin crypto platforms and affiliated services, including GMGN, Bloom Trading, and BullX, which may indicate that the ban on pump.fun could be part of a broader crackdown on meme coins.
X did not specify the reason for the large-scale suspension.
