Sui New Round of Academic Research Awards: Multiple Renowned Universities Win, Totaling Over $420,000
The Sui Foundation recently announced the winners of the new round of academic research awards. This research award aims to fund projects that promote the development of Web3, particularly groundbreaking research in blockchain networks, smart contract programming, and technologies related to products built on Sui.
In the past two phases, a total of 17 proposals from internationally renowned universities have been approved, with a total funding amount of $425,000. Participating universities include the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, University College London, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, and National University of Singapore.
Highlights of Selected Winning Proposals
A study on the diversity of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations ( DAO )
Professor Ari Juels of Cornell University will work on establishing metrics to measure the degree of decentralization of DAOs and explore practical methods to enhance decentralization within organizations.
Asynchronous DAG Protocol for Enhancing Blockchain Security
Professor Philipp Jovanovic from University College London proposed the development of an asynchronous directed acyclic graph (DAG) protocol, aimed at enhancing the capability against attacks while maintaining high performance.
Audit Sui smart contracts using large language models
Professor Arthur Gervais from University College London plans to apply large language models to Sui smart contract auditing to improve the efficiency of security assessments.
Trustworthy verification framework for decentralized oracles
Professor Giselle Reis from Carnegie Mellon University and Dr. Bruno Woltzenlogel Paleo from Djed Alliance will develop a framework for rigorous analysis and verification of blockchain oracles.
Optimize blockchain scalability
Professor Roger Wattenhofer from ETH Zurich will study how to enhance the parallelization potential of blockchain applications by identifying design flaws in smart contracts.
Build a scalable shared sequence layer
Professor Min Suk Kang from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology will explore using the Bullshark/Mysticeti algorithm as a shared sequencer to support multiple Rollups that use Sui as the sequencing layer.
DeFi Optimization Based on Deep Learning
The research team of Rachid Guerraoui and Walid Sofiane at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne will develop a hybrid deep learning model to optimize liquidity and dynamic fees in the Sui DeFi protocol.
These research projects cover multiple key areas of blockchain technology, from consensus mechanisms to smart contract security, from decentralized organizations to oracle verification. By supporting these cutting-edge research efforts, the Sui Foundation aims to promote technological advancement and innovation across the entire blockchain ecosystem.
