Despite providing robust security for cryptocurrencies, cryptology faces multiple challenges. The quantum computing threat looms large, as quantum computers may eventually break widely used asymmetric encryption algorithms, prompting the industry to develop quantum-resistant algorithms. Vulnerabilities in cryptographic implementations frequently lead to security incidents, including software defects, random number generation issues, or side-channel attacks.
